Ford must provide support for communities and local health teams fighting COVID spread in Kiiwetinoong

Published on January 29, 2021

SIOUX LOOKOUT - Sol Mamakwa, NDP MPP for Kiiwetinoong, is calling on the Ford government to provide First Nations and local health teams with every resource needed to contain COVID-19 that has now spread to five communities.

“The Ford government failed to contain COVID-19 in the province, and it has made its way into our communities. Our local health teams and residents are doing everything the can to contain the virus that has now spread across several communities in Kiiwetinoong.

Doug Ford must now ensure that our local health teams and communities are given every possible support to isolate the virus and keep people safe.

Local medical teams are leading the work in encouraging residents to take the COVID-19 vaccine when it arrives, and the Ford government must support this work and ensure that vaccines arrive as soon as possible.

I join our local health teams in their call for everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated and to help stop the spread of the virus.”
