On March 30, Indigenous Services Canada announced funding to assist Indigenous families in Northwest Territories to go on the land and stop the spread of COVID-19. The “At Home on the Land” initiative will increase physical distancing during the pandemic to curb the virus’ spread and is programming that could be replicated in Ontario. Within the Kiiwetinoong riding, there is already a strong practice of First Nations families being on the land that could be supported here in Ontario. Living on the land is an integral part of our way of life.
