This is a first hand video account of people and families forced into “houselessness” in Eabametoong First Nation during the pandemic and during the coldest month of the winter in February 2021.
They describe what it’s like living outside in tents and make-shift shelters as temperatures dropped below -40 C in Eabametoong.
Living in a perpetual crisis-response existence has to end. Communities across Kiiwetinoong need immediate housing assistance and a commitment to long-term solutions.
We are sharing this video here so that we may all witness the housing conditions in Eabametoong and work towards ending this avoidable suffering.
