THUNDER BAY – NDP MPPs were in Thunder Bay today to hear from local organizations as they brought forward their need for funding and resources – something urgently needed as Ford and the Conservatives continue to hoard resources.
“Today we heard from countless organizations about the importance of investing in the safety of northern highways,” said MPP Lise Vaugeois (Thunder Bay – Superior North). “It’s long past time for the government to listen to the people who are using these highways every day and ensure that they are safe and well maintained.”
Ford and the Conservatives are sitting on a $5.7 billion contingency fund that could be used right now to help these local organizations who serve our communities.
“From north to south, we’re seeing that life is getting harder for people across Ontario while the government looks away,” said MPP Terence Kernaghan (London North Centre), Official Opposition critic for Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. “The Ontario NDP are listening at every budget meeting, and we will keep pushing to make sure our public service partners have the support they need in the next budget. Vital service providers shouldn’t have to fundraise to keep the lights on and keep their employees paid while the government ignores their needs.”
